I've been writing since I was little kid. An assignment in fourth grade - writing a children's picture book - helped spur my interest.
I wrote for myself during my middle school and high school and never thought about becoming a published author. Then as an adult I took a community education class with my sister on writing children's books and this started my career in writing children's stories and attempting to get them published.
My sister had also taken a course through the Institute of Children's Literature, so I decided to pursue this too.
Eventually I joined the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
I've had one article on bald eagles published in Stories for Children.
I am still working to get a book published.
I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Ornithology from the University of Minnesota. I worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for 33 years and retired as a Wildlife Biologist that specialized in Bald Eagles and migratory birds.
Some of my other interests are bird watching, nature photography, growing and studying native plants, and growing tropical orchids.
I live on a lake in the middle of a National Forest in northern Minnesota with my husband and Maltese.
